The relocation of the Warthogs and Mongooses to a new enclosure necessitated, the provision of a new paddock, moat, retaining walls, landscaping, and external refurbishment of the new Warthogs and Mongooses house, together with extensive service and drainage works.

Okapi Enclosure, Chester, Circa £250,000

Adjoining the Giraffe house, the new Okapi project included both new extensions and external works. The new walk through enclosure offers visitors excellent viewing facilities. With a part sedum roof covering and external work to the paddock, this exhibit now compliments the adjacent structures.

Working on the main entrance with thousands of visitors surrounding the site was the ultimate challenge in ;safe delivery, planning, coordination
and effective working. After numerous phases, and the commitment of all the project delivery team ,this project was handed over to a delighted Client.

This internal fit out and finishing project supported the delivery of a major new facility within the Zoo. Appointed to undertake the finishes, this project demonstrated the ability of our team to provide the Zoo with finishes and detailing as our retained knowledge and skills.

Animal Health Building, Chester ,Circa £460,000

Delivering Health Care provision at the Countess of Chester just three miles from the Zoo, has the same objectives , “Care of the customer”; however in this case, the Customers are very different. Snakes, Penguins, or Lions could now be the end user, the principal of, isolation, specialist clinical aid, and equipment support the specialist needs of this project .
Supporting the design team and Zoo in the delivery of this project; Construction Director Wynne Davies stated” Yet another unique and successful project for the Zoo”.

Set within the centre of the Zoo, adjacent to the mono rail, the rail bridge crossing and formal gardens this new build project challenged. Constructed without incident, on time this project was handed over to a delighted Client.

Through a process of value management and engineering, this project was brought within budget, whilst still delivering the desired outcome to a delighted Client. The bespoke nature of the design compliments the design mix within the Zoo. Site logistics and safety of the general public was achieved through effective procedures and management. With thousands of visitors a day surrounding the site and access through a live pedestrian walkway this project was delivered without incident.

Elephants of the Asian Forrest, Chester, Circa £ 2.2 M
Period: 46 weeks
Some projects are large scale, others are quite simply unique .This indeed was a unique project, maintaining the existing usage of the elephant house, allowing safe public access to a key exhibit within the Zoo ,whilst constructing a significantly large project was a challenge.
Bespoke details underpinned the project ;from temporary “Elephant proof” screens, to “Elephant proof” security lock. Not only was this a very rewarding contract for the construction team , our ultimate client , the Elephants, are exceptionally happy within an excellent new facility.

Jaguar House, Chester, Circa £1.7 M

This project represents one of the largest single investments within the Zoo. The front of house exhibit allows the public excellent viewing access, what the public cannot see is the rear of house accommodation and technology that supports this exhibit. An exceptionally large project that sits comfortably within the infrastructure of the Zoo, this project was successfully delivered by an exceptionally competent supply chain to a delighted Client.

Cedar House, Chester, Circa £1.9M
Period: 3 Phased contracts over several years
The development and investment within the administrative infrastructure of the Zoo compliments the development and investment within the public area. Constructed in three phases, over a number of years , this “green” new administrative hub, compliments the design and setting within the Zoo. All three projects (part of the Master Plan) were designed around the use of timber as a core component of the building, structural, cladding, roof coverings, and internal joinery.
All three projects can simply be described as being totally successful.
Butterfly House, Chester, Circa £480,000
Period: 17 weeks
This replacement facility represents a significant commitment by the Zoo. Delivering each and every project within the Zoo offers individual challenges, this facility, within the centre of the Zoo, presented significant logistical challenges, Site Manager Paul Holmberg stated” with careful planning and liaison with the Zoo we delivered this project safely”
