BREEAM has been a core part of public sector building for some time, but, as the recently completed £2m headquarters building for wind energy developer West Coast Energy in Flintshire demonstrates, more private commercial builds are
adopting the standard. It’s appropriate that the first private commercial build in the UK to achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating was commissioned by an eco-friendly wind energy company, but the architect and contractor on the project believe that BREEAM is already gaining traction in the
private sector.
