Fir Grove Hotel, Grappenhall. Circa £335K
Client: The Feathers Group
Period: 15 weeks
Erection of a steel framed conservatory style frontage with glazed curtain walling and a flat roof over together with a similarly constructed link corridor inclusive of enabling works and mechanical and electrical installations. The hotel remained in use and occupied throughout the contract. The presence of a specialist fit out and re-modelling contractor (working direct for the client) on site during the contract called for particularly complex co-ordination and planning of the project.

King Suites, Queen Hotel, Chester. Circa £2.45M
Client: Feathers Group
Period: 26 weeks
Conversion of 7 storey, former Bank of Scotland office block into additional 87 bedroom block (including associated reception, circulation areas, bar and kitchen) for the Queen Hotel, including liaison and management of client fit out. All works were completed within the contract period. Working in close proximity to the hotel whilst it remained operational realised significant challenges, which were overcome through close liaison with the client team and detailed construction programming.

New Link, Queen Hotel, Chester, Circa £650K
Client: Feathers Group
Period: 28 weeks
Construction of new meeting rooms and link corridor, joining the main Queen hotel with the Thistle House building (later converted to the King suites by Read). The link corridor was constructed within the “live” internal courtyard area of the Queen Hotel, and involved enabling works, piled foundations, structural steel frame, M&E installation and masonry shell with glazed curtain walling to the courtyard elevation.

Bala Rural Life Centre, Circa £1.8M
Client: Antur Penllyn
Period: 48 weeks
The works concern the construction of 2 new and renovation of 2 existing derelict structures for the purpose of exhibition, With a strong environmental theme, necessitating locally sourced materials and labour. The concept of the project was based on concentric circles with a large outdoor exhibition area being the focal point. As a consequence all buildings were constructed on a series of different radii. The sustainable theme was reflected throughout the project which included glulam curved frames and ground source heat recovery.

The Mere, Ellesmere, Circa £1.45M
Client: Shropshire County Council
Period: 26 weeks
A contract awarded on a traditional tender basis for a scheme of improvements at the Mere visitor attraction. The scheme included three main areas of works. Firstly was the repair, refurbishment and extension of the existing Boathouse Restaurant to incorporate a new visitor centre and public toilets. The second area of work involved repair and restoration of a kiosk, Mere cottage and boathouses and demolition of the Moors toilet block. Finally an extensive programme of landscaping works including hard and soft areas, play equipment and lake edge restoration was completed.
