New Build of RAF Fairbourne

Value : £ 1,200,000

Type : New Build

RAF Fairbourne is a training centre used by the RAF for outdoor activities. The contract awarded was to construct a 2 storey office/function/storage/drying room. Contract start date was November 2004 with completion on time in April 2005 at a cost of £1.2m.  The building was officially opened in May 2005 by a highly ranked RAF Officer. This was a stand alone timber frame building with an external skin of rendered block work, and natural welsh slate roof the footprint of building 300m².

Driven concrete piles were used to overcome bad ground conditions and the high water table due to the building being only 1000 yards from the sea. Modern methods of construction were used throughout the contract.
