Restaurant refurbishment Wales award winning

Client : Brunning & Price

Value : £ 1,000,000

Type : Refurbishment

We are very proud of this refurbished restaurant alteration of a derelict and structurally unsafe former corn mill building dating back to 1786.

The project included temporary damming of the existing mill race to remove deposited silt / debris, formation of new conservatory style extension and decking over the mill race and rapids and the refurbishment of the existing water wheel (unused for around 50 years). The age, history and prominent location resulted in huge local interest, requiring tactful and diplomatic management.

  • Working within and over the River Dee.
  • Erection and maintenance of temporary works (including dam and façade bracing).
  • Working with CADW to ensure sympathetic detailing and construction.
  • Tight site bounding public walkways.
  • Restricted vehicular access due to narrow one way streets.
  • Huge local interest.
  • Health and safety due to dilapidated state.

We are not pertaining to have made the pub the succes that it is, but we have given them the infrastructure required to go on winning awards year on year.
