Read Construction have joined forces with a heritage group to celebrate World Environment Day and National Volunteer Week.
Read united with volunteers from Brymbo Heritage Group in June to mark National Volunteer Week and World Environment Day.
The volunteering session saw the volunteers help to maintain and develop the ‘orchard’ of the heritage area. The orchard has been grown from several heritage variety apples and pears and is used to produce apple juice and heritage cider.
This comes as part of the company’s ongoing commitment to support the Heritage Group through their corporate responsibility agenda.
“It was great to get everyone together to celebrate volunteering and promote World Environment Day with the volunteers of Brymbo Heritage Group,” said Kasia Pugh, Improvement and Engagement Manager.
“The day was a success, and we hope it inspires others to get involved with volunteering whilst recognising how we can all play our part in looking after the environment.”
Ken Matthews, Brymbo Heritage Group commented: “We are, as on many occasions, happy to have the assistance of Read employees. The work they did on moving soil to make wild meadows to be planted and enjoyed by the pupils of St Mary's VA CIW School is much appreciated by the group and the school.”
