The White Horse Restaurant will be located within the parade enclosure and will be open throughout the year. The 100-seater restaurant will replace marquees currently used on race days. The new restaurant will be inclusive of a rooftop viewing platform in prime location next to main paddocks.
Chester Racecourse Company, which opened Restaurant 1539, named after the year racing first took place on the famous Roodee, in 2008 and earlier this year The Weighing Room bar and restaurant in Commonhall Street, Chester said this latest development ‘will enhance existing daytime tourist attractions in the city and encourage greater use of the public space in the centre of the course’.
Read’s Managing Director Richard Heaton commented “Being awarded the contract to build a prestigious new restaurant in the heart of one Britain’s most well-known racecourses is a real honour”.
Project completion is March 2013.
