New Base for Wind Energy Developer

New Base for Wind Energy Developer

New £1.7m headquarters for Flintshire based independent wind energy developer West Coast Energy.

The privately funded project for local employer West Coast Energy will comprise a single storey office building on Mold Business Park and will have the top environmental rating.

The new building, which is expected to be ready for occupation in July, will house up to 90 local staff and is being built to BREEAM standards with several sustainable features.

James Hennie, West Coast Energy client project manager said, "Read has an excellent track record in delivering this type of development and part of their tender included local procurement and a local supply chain which was very important to us as a Mold business."

Read's Managing Director Richard Heaton said: "At Read we are consistently being asked to build to increasingly exacting environmental standards and we're proud this has become a key area of our expertise."

Headquartered in Brymbo, Wrexham, Read Construction Holdings Ltd employs more than 80 people and has a turnover of £16m.  The company was formed 20 years ago and has a wide range of clients in the public and private sectors, working on projects such as schools, hospitals, leisure and tourism.

West Coast Energy is a wind energy development company established in 1996 and with offices in Mold, Edinburgh, Inverness and Loughborough.

It has been responsible for the development of more than 500MW of wind energy projects on 22 sites throughout the UK, with others in the pipeline.
