Read wins Careers Wales Valued Partner Award

Read Construction has scooped a gold award for our work in helping students prepare for their future careers.

We were delighted to have received a Valued Partner Award recognising the support we give to schools and young people to gain a better understanding of the world of work.

Careers Wales makes links between education and employers by bringing schools and businesses together to inform, inspire and motivate young people about their future career opportunities.

The Education Business Exchange was launched in 2018 and now offers schools the opportunity to link up with more than 13,500 employers across Wales through a range of different activities.

As a Valued Partner, we have supported many schools and colleges across North Wales, supporting with careers guidance, interview tips, industry insights and work placements.

We were joined by more than 50 companies from across Wales at the awards ceremony held at the Hilton Hotel in Cardiff and hosted by BBC Radio Wales presenter Jason Mohammed.

Nikki Lawrence, Careers Wales Chief Executive, said: “The Valued Partner Award scheme is instrumental to the work Careers Wales does and we greatly appreciate the support we receive from each and every one of our Valued Partners.

“Ultimately, we’d like employers to feed into the national curriculum to ensure the skills students are developing will be useful to the evolving workplace.

“Without our Valued Partners, we wouldn’t be able to reach as many students at such a granular level and for that we are very grateful.”

Kasia Pugh from Read Construction said: “We were delighted to be awarded the gold Valued Partner Award by Careers Wales as recognition of our ongoing support for young people in our area. One of our core motivations is to encourage young people to consider careers in our amazing industry, and Careers Wales support this goal."
