Extension and refurbishment of Bodnant Primary School, to increase capacity to 420 full time pupils and up to 60 part time nursery pupils. Engaging with local suppliers and community groups, Read generated maximum added value from the development.
RESPONSIVE - This live project involves a new build extension to the school and refurbishment and remodelling of existing areas to improve the learning environment in line with modern 21C schools programme.
SUSTAINABLE - Traditional construction of strip foundations, steel frame with part external cladding and part masonry walls has been brought up to date with the inclusion of high recycled content products to deliver the sustainable sourcing and minimal raw material extraction requirements of modern construction and the BREEAM requirement for the scheme.
VALUE - Throughout the scheme read hosted several events for local groups including meet the buyer event, site tours, beam, signing and "topping out" ceremony and eco talks.
