Construction of a new Flying Start facility within an existing Primary School site. Complete re-design around a traditional solution and a BIM enabled approach resulted in completion under budget.
LEAN DESIGN - The original brief indicated a modular, off-site design as the preferred solution but through minimal re-design with Reads appointed designers, an alternative, traditional proposal was worked up for the scheme which offered savings of over 35% against the original modular design solution.
ENGAGING - With no direct benefit to the primary school site on which the new center was to be constructed, engagement and liaison with the staff, pupils, parents and visitors was of significant importance to the success of the scheme. Read ensured that disruption to the neighbours of the project in the existing school was minimised and built a good working relationship with the school. 5.
INNOVATIVE - Working collaboratively through an established relationship, Read continued on the success of an earlier scheme which was used as a BIM pilot project to further embed the effective information exchange requirements of PAS 1192.
The Flying Start Centre project at Bryn Deva School is my fourth experience of commissioning a new building. The service provided by representatives of Read Construction has been excellent. The result is a high quality, well-designed building with excellent finishes. The Flying Start Project are delighted with the finished product. Particular thanks to Dawid Cloete and Gareth Rowlands for all of their help and consideration of our needs....
