Extension to increase the indoor and outdoor training capacity of one of the UK’s most successful tennis centres. The existing facility remained open and fully functional during the extension project, which handed over ahead of the centre’s competition season.
CLIENT FOCUS - With a packed calendar and an approaching competition season, the client key deliverables were the continued use of all existing court space and earliest possible completion. To accommodate these requirements, Read completed the extension construction externally, with only a single court taken out of use during the break through works over a 5 day operation. This resulted in continued use of the entire facility for all but 1 court for 5 days and early completion and revenue generation from the extended courts.

Irrespective of the relatively simplistic design, being large portal steel frame with composite cladding and roof deck, close supervision and a robust quality system with adequate control process ensured the quality was of the highest order, resulting in an LABC Building Excellence award.
