Design and Build project awarded under the North Wales 21C Schools programme through the North Wales Collaborative Framework. The project included a major extension and extensive refurbishment of the existing building during the summer holiday period.
MAXIMIZING VALUE - Working with the school, client and designers, Our Design and Build team re-orientated the extension and managed the planning process to maximise value for the client. The resultant cost savings generated over the 4 bundled projects facilitated extensive additional works within budget. Client feedback on three financial measures ('Contribution to Savings', 'Financial Management', 'Collaborative Approach') resulted in 100% positive KPI's.
LOCAL VALUE - Dedicated to delivering maximum local value, Read committed to the Wrexham Council Employer Pledge to promote local labour and business opportunities on the project. A further programme of social value outputs were identified, targeted and delivered with the bundle of schemes achieving over 90% of the targets.
SOFT LANDINGS - Through a structured approach to handover, aligned with the Soft Landings Framework to engage and exchange information early and effectively, the handover and occupation of the facility has been achieved with nil disruption to the effectiveness of client operations. Our project delivery team remained assigned as the single point of contact to address ongoing requirements post occupation to ensure systems were operationally effective. Familiarisation training and ongoing support was delivered.

We are delighted both with the 4 new classrooms, corridors and hall extension, and with the refurbishment of our old building. The children, staff, governors, parents and the local community...
