A demolition and new construction project to replace the former temporary 1930’s uneconomical building with a new modern, purpose designed church hall and complementary two storey apartment block.
ENGAGING - The site’s location in a busy residential area, on a main route into Manchester, presented some logistical challenges that the site team overcame by ensuring co-operation of locals. The site team’s efforts to engage with local residents and businesses from the outset through regular project updates and an open-door policy ensured a cohesive and engaged community spirit, resulting in praise from the community.
LOCAL DELIVERY - Read are passionate about localism and local reinvestment – by supporting existing local supply chain with the appointment of new supply chain members, over 90% of the project material spend was achieved within 10 miles of the site, and new relationships have been established to deliver similar repeat works.
QUALITY - To ensure the high quality delivery of technically complicated masonry and natural sandstone detailing, Read partnered with a subcontractor with a long track record of collaborative working. The site team managed information and resources flow to ensure quality was embedded into the construction process and the work package was delivered without constraint.
